Incident

                                          
                                             
                                     
Last night I saw a black spot crawl     
Adown my bedroom's western wall.       
                                         
I raised my swatter off its tack,
And gave that spot a whitening whack;
                                     
But nothing told me where it went,
Or if it was to heaven sent.           
                                   
I let the light till midnight burn,
But black spot never did return.
